WELCOME to Trinity Presbyterian Church

Christian faith is in motion here at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Herndon, Virginia...from the quick pitter-patter of little feet to the deliberate steps seasoned with time.  There is a spirit of journey taking place, journey filled with promise.  Ours is a shared faith journey that is mapped with hope and paved with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), we affirm the sovereignty of God over every facet of human life.  As disciples of Jesus Christ, we seek to equip ourselves in God's love and truth.  It is my privilege to welcome you to this household of faith.  As you visit with us, be assured that Jesus Christ meets you where you are, accepts you as you are, and desires to guide you into becoming what you were created to be.  I pray you will discover refreshment and renewal for your faith here at Trinity and that you might be led to join our fellowship and grow in your understanding of God and service to the Lord.

Faithfully, Stephen

Summer Camp 2009!!

Residential camp programs for rising grades 3-12!

Meadowkirk Camp and Retreat Center is located in Middleburg, VA, about an hour west of Washington, DC. Our facility is a new one -- 2009 will be our third summer but we are the heirs of a tradition of summer camping that stretches back to the 1950s. Presbyterians of the Washington, DC area operated Glenkirk in Gainesville, VA until 2004, when the camping and retreat programs were moved to Meadowkirk. What was once a charming farm has been transformed into a remarkable place to explore God’s creation, with acres of rolling hills, scenic creeks and streams, vibrant forests and, of course, the wide open meadows for which we are named.

This summer, our camp theme will be “Breakthrough!” and will focus on stories of transformation. In encountering the person and the words of Jesus Christ, people of all backgrounds found they had been changed, that they had broken
through their present situation into a new way of life. Together we’ll study stories of men and women who were transformed by Jesus and how Jesus is still at work in the world today: transforming and loving; touching and healing; breaking through our old hurt and bringing new life to the world!

Time to Express Interest Now in
Fall New
DISCIPLE Bible Study Small Groups

Planning is underway for continued expansion of this congregational ministry of small-group, intensive Bible study that is intended to be transformational, not just informational. The objective of this world-wide interdenominational program is for regular, in-depth study of Scripture, designed to develop biblically nourished persons committed to discipleship, to become the foundation for all congregational ministry. The promise is that all who come to Scripture allowing it to have its say will, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, experience a power that changes priorities and redirects lives. DISCIPLE guides people in individual and small-group Bible study that requires covenanted commitment to the group and openness to being changed by God’s Word. DISCIPLE spreads through the congregation, as some graduates become facilitators of other groups. That’s what is happening here!

If you have any interest at all, please fill out the interest form (click here to download, or pick one up in the church office) and watch for announcements of short "Q and A" opportunities during the summer.

Home for your Cast-Offs

Churches in the Northern Virginia area provide support for FACETS – Fairfax Area Christian Emergency & Transitional Services, Inc. FACETS has a program that assists homeless families and individuals by placing them in temporary and then, hopefully, permanent housing.

A permanent home is generally an apartment in a block of housing designated for the homeless. Furniture and appliances that you may be ready to replace would be a welcome gift for FACETS’ clients. Even
your old curtains and drapes or dishes, pots and pans would find a welcome home. FACETS provides a full-time resident counselor and programs to assist clients with alcohol /drug recovery or those battling mental illness.

Please contact Amy Green, Director of Community Resources at 703-352-3268 or agreen@FacetsCares.org.  The website is located at www.FacetsCares.org. Please share this information with your friends and acquaintances. Think of it this way: The clothes in our closet that we no longer wear or the household items that we wish to cast off belong to those in need.

We are looking for a part-time youth director!

Help fill the LINK food pantry

Trinity has been helping to feed neighbors in our community for 36 years through LINK, the food pantry supported by about a dozen
churches. Each church is responsible for stocking the shelves for a month, and May is the month for Trinity to collect food. April was our month for deliveries. Items that are especially needed are jelly, Hamburger Helper, Pasta-a-Roni, canned Beans (refried, lima, great northern, pinto, black), spaghetti sauce, stuffing, cake or corn muffin mix, baking goods including flour and sugar, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, and diapers (size 4,5, and 6, as well as pull-ups). These items and other nonperishable food may be left at any time in the LINK barrel close to the kitchen. As you know, the need in our community is great.

We are a Stephen Ministry caring congregation.  For more information, click below...
