PROGRAM

Trinity Preschool offers children, ages three through five, a relaxed and caring environment. Our small classes and experienced staff ensure that our students receive the personal attention that is necessary for a happy and successful preschool experience. Incorporated into our weekly themes are age appropriate activities for all skill levels. Planned and open-ended activities encourage development of verbal communication, visual skills and large and small motor skills. We ensure a rich and varied preschool experience by providing a range of stimulating experiences in the fields of art, music, language arts, natural science, pre-reading and beginning mathematics.

Our program places equal emphasis on   helping the child learn the discipline of group living as well as personal responsibility. This is facilitated through the use of a combined program of self-contained homerooms and the “open” experience of Center Time, held for one hour on Wednesdays. Homeroom  and Open Center Time activities are planned by the teachers to coordinate with our weekly themes.

As a church sponsored institution, Trinity Presbyterian Preschool endeavors to reflect Christian values within its activities. Emphasizing care and respect for others and ourselves without regard to race, faith or nationality. Stories, prayers and songs appropriate for young children are included in the curriculum.

There’s always something to
look forward to at Trinity…

Our School Year

The Trinity Preschool year begins with a Student Open House. This “get acquainted day” is held in early  September in order to give students and parents a chance to meet their teachers  and visit the classrooms. The following week we begin the regular school year which ends in late May.  Trinity’s school holidays and snow days adhere to the Fairfax Public School calendar, unless otherwise noted.

A Preschool Day

The teachers and staff greet each child  with a warm welcome. A fun filled day is about to begin. The children create works of art, practice new skills, make friends, play games - there’s lots to do. At snack time, school friends can sit and enjoy a treat together. Everyday, we’ll read stories and sing songs. We also visit the playground where we can run, climb, slide and dig in the sandbox  before it’s time to go home.

Music & Movement Class

Trinity’s students look forward to weekly music and creative movement classes with a trained instructor. The children participate in a variety of activities that help promote  appreciation of music and develop coordination. Our students share their musical talents with parents and friends during Trinity’s annual Christmas and End–of-Year programs.

Lunch Bunch

This is an optional program for students who wish to extend their morning sessions. Children bring their lunch and enjoy games and stories. Lunch Bunch is held after classes from 12:00–1:00pm, Monday through Friday, October through May. Students may enroll for two or more days.

Summer Camp

A two-week Preschool Summer Camp is held in early June for current students. Summer Camp registration is held in the late spring.  Camp is full of make-believe play, creative arts & crafts and outdoor games.

Parental Involvement

We invite parents to participate in their child’s preschool experience by volunteering in the classroom, assisting with special events and fieldtrips. In addition parents are invited to join us for  parenting workshops during the school year.

Preschool Staff

Trinity’s teaching staff is selected for  their early childhood experience and educational background. Our staff participates regularly in educational workshops, First Aid and CPR training programs. Trinity Preschool maintains membership in the early childhood professional organizations; NAEYC and AECCP.
