Herndon's 5th Annual Relay for Life a Great Success

On June 6-7, Trinity’s Relay team weathered the hottest Relay on record in addition to a thumderstorm that had all teams in the high school’s gym for an hour in the evening. The team walked the track, sold snow cones (which were extremely popular due to the hot temperatures) and participated in the Luminaria ceremony to honor or remember those stricken with cancer. Our team contributed over $4,800 to the cause! The “Quarters for a Cure” campaign was a huge success — it brought in $125 in quarters! A heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who participated, assisted, donated and prayed for us. We can now all rest until next year!

Youth Awards

Congratulations to three very deserving young ladies who were the recipients of the Youth Awards this year. Kate Boulware and Kate Phillips were the winners of the Carla Boxeth Senior High Leadership Award. Both of these young ladies have been very active in youth group participating in retreats, work camps, mission projects and serving on the Youth Advisory Committee. Lia Fleming was the recipient of the Junior High Leadership Award. She served as a youth representative on the Youth Advisory Committee and was very active in the youth recycling program this year. Congratulations to all of you for leadership and service.

Welcome New Youth Representatives

The youth elected new representatives for the 2008-2009 year. Brian Spath, Patrick Boulware and Jake Killian were installed on Youth Sunday as representatives this year on the Youth Advisory Committee. Thanks to Kate Boulware, Andrew Redfern and Lia Fleming for doing an outstanding job this past year.

Top 10 Reasons to Become a Youth Advisor

Have you ever wondered what really motivates someone to be a youth group advisor? Well, the current youth advisors thought you might like to know the top TEN reasons that someone would join the Youth Committee as a Youth Advisor.

#10 You can get free dinners at a large number of our meetings. And they are really very good.
#9 Two weekend retreats in the foothills of Northern Virginia and your meals are provided.
#8 You can jump out of trees and the harness and helmet will be provided for you.
#7 You are not allowed to get OLD! Being around the youth will definitely keep you young, even if it is just young at heart.
#6 You get to listen to new music.
#5 You get to keep up with all the trends and pop culture
#4 You get to know the starting line up of the youth’s favorite teams, especially the Eagles.
#3 You get to learn how to play snowball without any snow.
#2 You get to see your faith through a new prospective.
#1 You get a chance to grow closer to God by working with the most amazing group of youth.

Consider joining the Youth Advisory Team and watch God work through you in amazing ways. There are openings available. The monetary pay is not great, but the spiritual pay is beyond belief. Just ask any of the current advisors. As the youth have said all year, God’s kingdom is big enough for you and you fit. If you are interested in joining the team, just let Becca know.
