Who We Are
We embrace our identity as a diverse, inclusive congregation—one that values our Presbyterian Church (USA) identity, a welcoming and non-judgmental spirit, and support for all persons no matter who you are or what your background.
About this image: Trinity is a rich tapestry of friendship, woven together in the Spirit, as our Unity in Community art project illustrates. Join us on a Sunday morning to see it in person!
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
A Legacy of Love
and Service
Rooted in the historic town of Herndon, Virginia, Trinity is a church where people genuinely care for one another and where friendships often extend beyond Sunday mornings. We are an inclusive and reconciling congregation, welcoming all who seek to know Jesus better regardless of race, age, gender, disability, and sexual orientation. Our mission statement is simple: Love God, Love Neighbor, and Make a Difference.
We care not only for one another, but for the surrounding community and the wider world. We take seriously our call to be good stewards of God’s creation and are proud to be certified as an Earth Care Congregation with the Presbyterian Church (USA).
OUR HISTORY
Out of Three, One Congregation
Trinity Presbyterian Church was founded in 1959 through the merger of three separate congregations: the Congregational Church of Herndon (established 1868, notably granting women voting rights in its constitution), Floris Presbyterian Church (1905), and Herndon First Presbyterian Church (1924). The name "Trinity" honors this three-fold foundation. The merged congregation moved to a new six-acre site in 1969 and underwent significant expansion in 1988.
We’ve also been proud to host a number of immigrant fellowships over the years. The Bethel Congregation (affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana) worships in our building on Sunday afternoons, and also joins Trinity for events throughout the year.

We don’t just write checks—we roll up our sleeves, pack food baskets, advocate for our neighbors, and build partnerships that make a real difference. As an Earth Care Congregation, we compost all of our disposible goods and we built a butterfly garden. Whether serving locally, responding to disasters, supporting international partners, or helping families in need, we love putting compassion into action.
